Mission for Children

To cultivate authentic faith in the lives of children by encouraging, equipping, and supporting families and leaders in their commitment to raise the next generation of believers.

The family is valued greatly here at Rich Pond Baptist Church.  Given the biblical model outlined in Deuteronomy 6:4-9, we believe parents are called to be the primary faith influencers of their children and the home is the primary setting that this takes place.
With this in view, we believe that the best way to train children is to encourage, equip, and support their parents (or parental figures) to fulfill their biblical roles as primary faith influencers.  Simply stated, we believe children’s ministry should, by in large, be parent ministry.

Our goal is not to replace or compete with parents in their God-given roles, but to compliment and assist parents with the awesome responsibility and privilege of raising the next generations of believers.

Therefore, RichPondBaptistChurch endeavors to come alongside families by offering programs that assist parents as they raise their children in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

Core Values

  • God-Centered-we establish a Biblical foundation by teaching the Bible as the word of God, its theme as the glory of God, and its focus as Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
  • Gospel-Driven-we are eager to share and instruct children and families in the gospel of Jesus Christ.
  • Family-Friendly—we partner with families to help parents be the primary disciple makers of their children.
  • Purposeful—we strive to be good stewards of the time we have with parents, children, and leaders through planning that is consistent with our core values.
  • Accountability—we adopt an attitude of individual and group responsibility to ensure everyone ministers and everyone is ministered to faithfully.
  • Excellence—we do our best with the gifts and resources God has given us and pursue opportunities for improvement.
  • Creativity—we explore new ways and ideas to convey the old truths of the Bible.
  • Engaging—we teach lessons and implement activities in ways that are enjoyable and enhance learning.
  • Safety—we provide a safe and secure environment for children as we carry out the goals of the ministry.

From babies to kindergartners, Mission Friends provides the building blocks of faith and a basic awareness of God’s love for all people.
Royal Ambassadors (RAs) and Girls in Action (GAs) are mission organizations for boys and girls in grades 1 through 6.
Each program is designed to create awareness about missions.  Children learn about the gospel and the importance of taking it to the nations.  RAs and GAs meet on Wednesdays at 6:30pm.

We value the importance of music and how we can glorify God with it.  Below are two ways we attempt to instill these values in the children God has entrusted to us.

Graded Choir

The graded choir program is based on biblical truths. Music is taught in a biblical context so that children are introduced to the Word of God and the love of Jesus Christ. Children are encouraged to develop musical skills, both with vocal and instrumental training, so that they will be prepared to be active participants and leaders in worship.  Graded Choir meets on Sunday Nights at 6:00pm during the school year.

Music Discovery Week

Music Discovery Week provides children with opportunities to learn a variety of music skills (vocal practice, tone chimes, recorder, guitar, creative movement, etc).  The children also begin work during this week on a children’s musical which is presented at the close of Vacation Bible School.  Please see website calendar for dates in June.

Bible Drill

Bible Drill meets on Sunday afternoons at 5:00 pm in Room 412 and provides an awesome opportunity for children who are in fourth, fifth, or sixth grade as they compete and have fun learning the Bible. During this time the children learn 25 verses of scripture and 10 key passages.   It helps children increase in their knowledge of the Bible, develop skills in locating books of the Bible and key passages.

Nursery duty is organized on a quarterly basis during Wednesday and Sunday Night Program.

Julie Boyer currently serves as Nursery chairperson.

Summer Programs

Vacation Bible School (VBS)

VBS is a week-long, theme-based program used to reinforce biblical truths.  It is open to children from 3 years old through 6th Grade.  Please see website calendar for VBS dates in July.

Backyard Bible Clubs (BYBC)

BYBC are week-long Bible groups that meet in neighborhoods hosted by families. Gatherings consist of Bible stories, games, and crafts.
