Making A Joyful Noise!
At The Music Ministry Opportunities
Rich Pond Baptist Church
Music is a vital part of Rich Pond Baptist Church. Rich Pond incorporates many different styles of music in worship in an effort to glorify God.
The music ministry at Rich Pond Baptist Church encompasses many areas of opportunity. If you love the Lord and love proclaiming the Gospel message, there is a place to serve in the music ministry.

Children’s Music Ministry
The theme for this year is "The Wonderful Mystery" from Ephesians 1:9. Activities are built around mysteries and discoveries--codes, secrets, puzzles, investigations, etc. Our goal is to guide our children beyond the activities to the power and creativity of our God.
The graded choir program is based on biblical truths. Music is taught in a biblical context so that children are introduced to the Word of God and the love of Jesus Christ. Children are encouraged to develop musical skills, both with vocal and instrumental training, so that they will be prepared to be active participants and leaders in worship. Children are given a wide scope of opportunities. Curriculum spans classical to contemporary literature and children have the opportunity to present what they learn during both semesters. As children develop, they lead in worship and even participate in pageants and children’s musicals.
Each summer, Music Week provides children with opportunities to learn a variety of music skills. The morning consists of vocal practice, music track times (children may select two of the following: tone chimes, recorder, Orff instruments, creative movement and guitar), worship, and a special performer’s presentation. The children also begin work during this week on a children’s musical which is presented at the close of Vacation Bible School. Auditions for the musical’s dramatists and soloists occur during Music Discovery Week.
Youth choir is a great way for students fromgrade 7 – 12 to continue honing their musical skills for the Lord. The youth choir regularly sings in Rich Pond’s worship services. The youth choir is the main feeder group for the youth praise and worship team and is a pre-requisite for those who want to audition for the All-State Youth Choir and Orchestra.
Rehearsal: 5:00 PM on Sunday evenings in the choir room during the fall and spring semesters.
The adult choir is Rich Pond’s main worship choir. It is a diverse group of people with a wide range of talent and musical tastes. Many college students sing in the choir and many choir members have sung for years.
The choir uses its diversity for God’s Glory to sing a wide range of styles from gospel to traditional to contemporary to praise and worship. This group connects across the generations and has a caring spirit for one another and the community. Recently, the choir produced a worship CD entitled, “Songs We Love to Sing”.
If you love to sing, there is a place for you in Rich Pond’s choir. Although the choir has many singers with professional training, the majority of singers simply love to sing for the Lord. Many cannot read music. Auditions are not required, so come and join a group who loves the Lord, strives to be good worship leaders and loves one another.

Kentucky Baptist All-State Opportunities for:
Students are given the opportunity to audition for these student groups sponsored by the Kentucky Baptist Convention. Student musicians from Rich Pond Baptist Church regularly participate in each of these honors organizations. Many of these All-State musicians lead music at Rich Pond and other churches around the United States. Each group offers students the opportunity to rehearse with excellent musicians their own age, interact together over a weekend or for older groups, work and play together for a week. Each honors group performs several concerts together.
Presently, Rich Pond Baptist Church has two handbell choirs. Both choirs regularly play in worship. These groups play uplifting music to the Lord. Handbells provide a wonderful example of the dependency toward one another within a musical group, and the relationship the church has to one another in the body of Christ.
A basic understanding of music reading is necessary to play in a choir. Both choirs are organized by the beginning of each fall school semester. If you are interested in playing with either of these groups please contact Jim Krutza or Michael Wix for more information.
Presently, Rich Pond Baptist Church has five praise bands. Each group regularly leads in worship.
Several of these groups are under the direction of Michael Wix, our praise and worship associate. Other teams are lead by other musicians from our church. The basic instrumentation of these groups include, but is not limited to, acoustic guitar, drums, lead guitar, bass guitar, synthesizer, piano, wind instruments and vocalists.
In choosing praise band members, spiritual development and a heart for worship are more important than a person’s musical capabilities.
If you are interested in playing or singing in a Rich Pond praise team, please contact Drew Krutza.
Solos and Ensembles
Rich Pond accompanists, soloists and vocal groups play and sing throughout the year. If you sing individually or in a group or play a keyboard instrument, there is a place to serve the Lord at Rich Pond.
Please contact Jim Krutza.
Rich Pond often employs drama in worship to support worship themes or to promote the various ministries of the church. If you are interested in becoming one of the actors or actresses among The Rich Pond Players,

Special Outreach Projects
Rich Pond produces an Easter pageant each year as well as special Christmas projects. The church often hosts concert artists. People are needed to serve in areas of drama, set design, costumes, ushers, backstage crew, hospitality, make-up, technical crew, food preparation and marketing and promotion. If you’re looking for short-term commitment or do not have musical talent, one of these areas might be for you.
Shekinah is Rich Pond’s concert band/orchestral group that regularly leads in worship.
Rich Pond’s instrumental group plays for the glory of God. This group plays feature pieces, accompanies the choir and plays during congregational singing. If you have previously played an instrument, you have the potential to play with this group.
This organization is open to high school students through adults.
Please contact Michael Wix if you are interested in playing with this group of musicians.
The technical team features sound and light operators, people who record worship, video production and slide shows. These crews are responsible for sound checks, lighting cues, visual presentations, equipment management and other related tasks. If you are skilled in computer or electronics, you can find a place to serve the Lord here. No experience is necessary, we will train you.
